Managed Solutions

As the Stored Value market continues to evolve, the characteristics of the processor relationship are shifting; from being functionally, an outsourced service with limited control, to total ownership and complete autonomy. Processors are becoming more involved with providing core business functions. The net result is an increased synergistic partnership, rather than an arm’s length vendor-customer relationship, as in the past.

There are currently three types of processing relationships; a Processor Controlled ASP model where the client is beholden to the processor for all aspects of their business, a licensed model that has massive start up and ongoing costs and a Client Controlled ASP model where the Card Program manager has total control of the card program with low costs.

There are currently three types of processing relationships; a Processor Controlled ASP model where the client is beholden to the processor for all aspects of their business, a licensed model that has massive start up and ongoing costs and a Client Controlled ASP model where the Card Program manager has total control of the card program with low costs.

Processor Controlled ASP Model
These processors have been the historical mainstay of the Stored Value business. While they provide the ability to manage card programs; their inflexibility, slow speed to market and antiquated functionality, have made it increasingly difficult, to keep up with innovations in the industry. This relationship is rather like outsourcing your card program, with the inherent lack of control and problems that arise from this type of partnership.

Licensed Model
For companies that want to control their own card programs, this may seem like the ideal solution. However, this is a complex and expensive proposition; prohibitive upfront and ongoing costs combined with the need for an extensive IT department make this solution extremely expensive and unwieldy.

Client Controlled ASP Model
This is the ideal model and the one that i2c provides. It is an “end to end” or holistic solution. It empowers the owner by combining the benefits of a licensed model (Control) and an ASP model (Low Costs). Businesses have the functional control and flexibility to run their business the way they would like. An added and critical business advantage is access to market leading enhancements, giving rise to a leading competitive edge.
