FastCash Architecture

FastCash connects to a variety of devices including ATMs, point-of-sale (POS) terminals, and the Internet. Its unique architecture isolates the device from the communication protocol layer, resulting in higher reliability and client flexibility. Because FastCash provides an open architecture that takes advantage of industry technology, the value proposition to our clients is significantly enhanced.

ETP, the kernel of FastCash software is independent of the device and communication protocol layers. It provides a standard API for Device Manager and Host Manager to interact with the kernel.

The system connects to a variety of clients/devices such as ATM, POS, Web and Pay Phone etc. Its unique architecture isolates the client interface layer from the core-processing engine resulting in higher reliability and client flexibility. Similarly, using the Host Manager the system can connect to a variety of authorization hosts. The system's communication manager supports industry standard communication protocols such as TCP/IP, ISO-ASYNC, X.25, SNA etc. and handles message formats such as ISO-8583 and VISA.

The System Management Station (SMS) is a true 32bit object oriented, open, graphical and scalable application available on Windows95, NT, OS2 and Motif platforms. It is highly secure, flexible and maintainable. It has user friendly graphical user interface (GUI) and allows the system manager to configure, monitor and manage the entire network. The System Management Station (SMS) connects to ETP either over a LAN or a WAN allowing remote management of the network. SMS services can be configured to meet the needs of the various user roles.

The system is very scalable and can be used for small to very large networks. First level of scalability comes from a simple hardware upgrade, as the product is available for a single process Pentium machines to high-end MPP servers. Secondly, the various software modules such as ETP, Device Manager and the RDBMS etc. can be distributed on separate machines allowing user to build a large system using small manageable components.

FastCash Security
Security is an essential component of a successful system. FastCash is a secure system offering a comprehensive set of security features. Every FastCash function executable by a user has an associated Access Control List (ACL). Whenever a user attempts to perform an operation on the FastCash controller the ACL is consulted and, based on the results, the operation is either allowed or denied.

FastCash provides double-layered security. Permission is granted to users on both database and application levels.

User Groups/Roles
FastCash allows the system administrator to define different user groups. Each group is defined and configured on the basis of different functions that could be performed using FastCash. Permission is not granted to individual users but to user groups. Users are then added to user groups. In this way FastCash reduces the tedium of defining permission to individual users again and again.

Audit Trail
The audit trail facility enhances the FastCash system security by providing insight into the system activity. The audit trail keeps track of different functions (such as insertions, updates, deletions) performed by users. Using this option the history summary and record details can be viewed.

Approval Keys
Another key feature of FastCash security is the use of authentication or approval keys for critical operations. System managers can perform specific functions but there are certain activities that require the authorization of higher management (superusers). For example, a system manager can perform normal operational activities but to modify card information or to generate a PIN mailer an approval key is required.
